Mixed Media with Dreamerland Crafts "Happiness Is" Stamp

Today I'm used Dreamerland Crafts' "Happiness Is" stamp.  The little girl is sitting on some logs in the stamped image but I thought it would be fun to cut out the logs and have her sit on some ribbon instead.  This is another steller image from Dreamerland Crafts.  I love this image.  The girl is super sweet and who doesn't love kitties??

To create this background I die cut a rectangle just a bit smaller then my 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card front.  Then I put down red and white striped washi tape here and there; after, I took a stencil (any one will do) and covered the background in white embossing paste. I let this dry overnight.  Then I covered the background in bronze paint, letting the washi tape show through here and there.  When the bronze was dry I added pink, blue, and mint Martha Stewart craft paint.  I was sure to let some of the bronze and washi tape show through.  I then took my distress reinkers: picked raspberry, evergreen bough, peacock feathers and broken china and dropped them here and there, moving the paper around to create the desired effect.  I left this overnight.  It didn't dry.

There was much to much ink on the paper to dry at all, so I took another piece of paper the same size, sandwiched the pieces together and ran then through my Cuttlebug embossing machine.  I ended up with a second background (which was dry) and the original (still a bit wet).  I added clear embossing powder the original and heat set it.  This gave it beautiful shine and saved my fingers from becoming discolored.

The last touch to the background was adding the words: enchanting, charming and loved in VersaFine pigment ink.  Since, pigment ink stays wet for some time I added clear embossing powder to these words and heat set them for a fun effect.  I added some old Amy Tangerine ribbon with some black and white twine and the coloured Dreamerland Crafts' "Happiness Is"image.

I'm very pleased with the way the background came out.  You can see the detail in these photos.

Lastly, I added the sentiment (from an old MFT stamp set) and the sequins (from Micheals).
Hope you are enjoying Spring!!  :)  We are waiting for our crocus to arrive.  (So are the squirrels- they enjoy eating the bulbs!)
